What they do

  • Read vital signs, such as pulse, temperature, blood pressure, and respiration.
  • Administer injections and enemas.
  • Monitor catheters and give massages or alcohol rubs.
  • Apply dressings, hot water bottles & ice packs.
  • Help patients bathe, dress, treat bedsores, empty bedpans and changing soiled bed sheets.
  • May feed patients & record food consumption, which monitoring the fluids they take in and excrete.
  • Watching patients closely and report any signs of treatment complications or adverse medication reactions.
  • Collect samples for testing.
  • Help superiors perform advanced medical procedures and complete routine tests by themselves.
  • Tend to patient's comfort, personal hygiene & emotional needs.

Qualifications

  • - vocational nursing training program.
  • License required.
  • Professional certification.
