Medical Assistant
What they do
- Verbally verify patient information.
- Schedule appointments and handle all legal procedures regarding surgeries, examinations, or other operations.
- Gather information necessary before examination including measurements, physical tests, and medical history.
- Work hard to maintain confidentiality of patients records to inspire confidence in the patient that their information is safe.
- Communicate with patients about what the treatment entails.
- Perform basic on-site laboratory tests.
- Maintain medical supplies by disposing of contaminated substances, sterilizing any instruments, and ensuring functionality of equipment.
- Order equipment to replace anything that is damaged or contaminated.
- Keep waiting rooms clean.
Qualifications
- A high school diploma or its equivalent.
- Completion of a formal program in medical assisting.
- Proof of medical assistant certification or experience.
- Be polite and pleasant to others, this includes good hygiene.
- Must have enough understanding of treatment procedures to comprehensively explain then to patients.
