Medical Assistant

What they do

  • Verbally verify patient information.
  • Schedule appointments and handle all legal procedures regarding surgeries, examinations, or other operations.
  • Gather information necessary before examination including measurements, physical tests, and medical history.
  • Work hard to maintain confidentiality of patients records to inspire confidence in the patient that their information is safe.
  • Communicate with patients about what the treatment entails.
  • Perform basic on-site laboratory tests.
  • Maintain medical supplies by disposing of contaminated substances, sterilizing any instruments, and ensuring functionality of equipment.
  • Order equipment to replace anything that is damaged or contaminated.
  • Keep waiting rooms clean.

Qualifications

  • A high school diploma or its equivalent.
  • Completion of a formal program in medical assisting.
  • Proof of medical assistant certification or experience.
  • Be polite and pleasant to others, this includes good hygiene.
  • Must have enough understanding of treatment procedures to comprehensively explain then to patients.
