State Tested Nursing Assistant
What they do
- Help patients with personal care and grooming, including bathing, dressing, toileting, hair care and skin care.
- Assist patients with walking, transferring in and out of wheelchairs and changing position in bed.
- Feed patients that cannot feed themselves.
- Monitor patients' vital signs.
- STNAs that work in patients' homes may also prepare meals and do light housekeeping tasks.
- Provide companionship and emotional support.
- Document the care they provide in patients' medical charts.
Qualifications
- Completion of a course of education that includes classroom study and clinical work experience.
- Certified or registered with the state in which you wish to work.
- Completion of at leasthours of education.
- Pass the state exam.
