Truck Driver

What they do

  • Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle ensuring functionality of break lights, proper tire pressure, proper fluid levels, and checking many other parts.
  • Plan route with detail using navigation technology or an old fashioned atlas. Include rest stops, gas stops, and stops to contact the dispatcher.
  • Keep logs of trip, and keep pick-up and carry paper records of the shipments in the event of an inspection by the D.O.T (Department Of Transportation).
  • Supervise the loading of the goods to ensure that they will not be damaged on the road.
  • Follow all rules and regulations of the road and maintain a defensive driving mindset to uphold the reputation of company and to ensure the safety of everyone on the road.

Qualifications

  • Proof of high school degree or other equivalent.
  • Must have Class A, CDL, or commercial drivers license.
  • Must have a clean driving record.
  • Must pass a drug and alcohol test.
  • Must have a current TWIC Card.
  • Must provide a current MVR.
  • Must provide a medical certificate.
